This is a wanna be rock song that spins more jazz than blasts. There are two sections for soloing with the quartet as accompaniment. This makes the length variable, at a minimum of four minutes.
I was kindly invited to guest lecture at ESU as they neared the concert. We discussed the theory behind improvisation, approaches we can take as string players, and jamming on it as a group.
Later a friend asked if there was a string quartet version. I told her no, but it can easily happen – it was fun arranging a piece for a friend’s quartet! The Susan Mayo quartet performed on the recording below.
